Pub dining with a view! The Masons Arms, Lake District, Cumbria

The Lake District, Cumbria has to be one of my favourite places in the UK! There are so many trails to explore and fells to climb... and the views are just magical.

There are also great places to dine. I have just found a fab pub there, which serves quality food in the most glorious setting. It is called The Masons Arms near Bowness on Windermere.

As you will probably know from a previous blog post (click here), I love finding top notch foody pubs and this one is a good'un.

To reach it, we drove through gorgeous, (very) narrow, back lanes with hardly a signpost to be seen and for me this just added to its appeal.

It was another sunny, coolish day and even though the cosy interior with the crackling log fire was inviting, we sat in the comfy wicker chairs outside so that we could feast our eyes on the awesome scenery.

Famished after a morning's walk in the hills, we all chose the house "stew of the day", which in today's case was lamb.

Ok, so maybe some of my photos don't do the dish justice but believe me it was very tasty. They even offered me some gluten free bread for mopping up the last bit! Woohoo (me doing a mini jig).

This place is friendly, atmospheric, in the most amazing location and is definitely on my "can't wait to return list"!
