"Where shall we go"? - was the big question? "Devon" someone piped up, "Northumberland", another suggested..., "Cornwall?", "Yorkshire?".... Britain is so lovely at this time of year we are spoilt for choice but as some family were already going to North Cornwall and were urging us to join them, North Cornwall it was.
And what a good decision it turned out to be!
After a bit of research on the web I realised just how popular this little part of our country is, as most of the accommodation was already booked up.
Luckily, however I found a gem of a property a few miles out of Padstow, which was our base for the week.
We excitedly set off at dawn and zoomed down to arrive in time for late breakfast and our explorations began in earnest.
First stop was Harlyn Bay. How fab is that beach?!

Having been crammed in a car, with arms and legs fighting for room among the surf boards, wetsuits, bags, chairs, picnic, windshield, sun brolly.... (you name it and it was in our car!), stretching our legs walking along the Cornish coastal path drinking in the gobsmackingly beautiful vistas was the perfect antidote.
There are so many beaches along this stretch of coast and in no time at all we were at another one....and then another one!

These dry stone walls in the fab zig zag pattern characterize Cornwall and were everywhere.

...as were these pretty, purple flowers, although I've not discovered their name yet!
Blown away by the outstanding beauty of this area, but at the same time tiredness creeping in, we headed back to our property for some welcome R&R....and G&T ;-)
