Brecon Beacons

Wales, here I come!

Holiday time!

With horse boots here and surf boards there, we packed the car to the brim leaving just enough space for us to breathe (not kidding!).
Chugging along the motorways we were super excited to reach our mid way stop, as where better to stretch our legs than the fabulous Brecon Beacons!

The panoramic views even at low level were breathtaking.

As we had an afternoon to explore we decided to hike to Twyn y Gaer, which used to be an Iron age hillfort.

We followed easy green swathes of winding paths through bracken on the Mynydd Illtud Common breathing in the clean Welsh air.

After a little climb near the end we were rewarded with the most fantastic view! Look at the patchwork of fields - So British! Love it!

But, as I said above, this is Britain/Wales....and the clouds decided it was time to rain...so we raced back to the Visitor Centre without getting too wet for some tea and cake (and gluten free was available for me so I was very happy!)

We were staying the night at a wonderful Farmhouse B&B not far from Brecon and I can't wait to share it with you....!

It's called Alltybrain Farm and the owner Rose was so warm and friendly.

When we arrived the chickens and guinea fowl came to say hello. It had started to rain again but Rose was still happy to let my niece feed the geese, collect the eggs, and explore the grounds.

Now what do you think is behind this green door? ...Two adorable Shetland Ponies that's what and my horse mad niece was in her element! Rose let her groom them and my niece spent the next hour or so on cloud nine.

I was staying in the large Twin room, which I loved. The bed was really comfy! Little touches like the fresh flowers made the room fresh and welcoming and the scent from the honeysuckle was wonderful. There's tea and coffee available in your room with the most charming crockery!

Now that's service for you!

The owners let us use the cosy lounge during the evening.

The following morning the breakfast was laid out beautifully and Rose cooked an incredibly tasty full English (with the eggs collected by my niece). Yum. There was even home-made marmalade!

Unfortunately I did not take any pics of it so you will have to just go and taste it for yourself! :-)

We can't wait to return! See you soon Rose!
