Northfield Farm

Driving through the middle of the countryside, I'd heard that there was a farm close by selling good quality meat so I took the opportunity to make a small diversion to check it out and to see if there was something to buy for dinner.

Following signs directing me down narrow, rickety lanes with gorgeous views of the Rutland countryside, I eventually stumbled upon a real treat!

Northfield farm is a small, traditional, family business that source and produce premium quality beef, lamb and pork.

They have won great taste awards in 2014 for not only Pork and Herb Sausages but also Home Cured Salt Beef and French Trimmed Rack of Mutton!

A couple of White Park Cattle greeted me as I entered the farm.

It is also where Sloeberry Spirits are based.

Inside the shop there is an assortment of cheeses, meats, yoghurts, jams and other goodies for sale.

Also you will find a great collection of Shepherds' crooks perfect for walking in the fields, the shooting season, or looking after your flock!

Having decided on toad in the hole for dinner I was on the lookout for their award winning sausages and the friendly staff pointed me in the right direction and here they are all wrapped up and ready to go.

After cooking the sausages in my toad in the hole, I can assure you they were the best sausages I have ever tasted. Simply, lip smackingly delicious! I uuuurge you to try them. You won't regret it, I promise you!

If you can't make the journey to the farm, they have an online shop or alternatively they are at London Borough Market.

I can tell you, I've already penned in another visit to them soon!
